About Freshwater - Isles of Wight
Freshwater
The Victorian village of Freshwater sits at the start of the Tennyson Trail, a spectacular cliff top walk in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Tennyson Trial is named after the popular English poet laureate, Alfred Lord Tennyson who lived in Farringford House in Freshwater. Nearby lies St Agnes Church, the Isle of WightÂ’s only thatched church.
Freshwater is classed as a village but offers many amenities you would expect from a small town. There are plenty of shops, a sports centre with indoor swimming pool and an 18 hole golf course overlooking the Bay. Freshwater Bay has a small sand and shingle beach and there is a selection of traditional pubs and restaurants.
The western Isle of Wight offers rugged cliffs, small villages, countryside and farmland and the famous Needles, a must see on a visit to the Isle of Wight.
